You may not be able to predict the weather or whether you will get what you want tomorrow, but you can be sure that some form of change is going to happen. If you are alive right now, something about you or around you is changing right now. If the changes are to your liking, you will roll with it and be happy to change. However, if the changes are far from your best case scenario, then it’s”Houston we have a problem!” One of my favouite quotes by John Maxwell says it all: “Change is inevitable, Growth is an option”.

I remember when everything changed in my life in what seemed like an instant, and let’s just say it was as welcomed as a double root canal. I did my best to stand still and resist it. Yes, I failed. Everything changed. Resisting change is like trying to hold on to your straw hat in the midst of a hurricane. So if everything is going to change anyway, you can choose to accept it and take the opportunity to grow or to stand still trying to resists it as it overtakes you.

Growing pains is an accurate term as far as I am concerned. It was very painful to stand up and choose to grow in the face of a massive changes in my life. I am not going to lead you to believe that it happened in a moment. It took me over two years to finally stand up and choose growth. I have to credit my transformational change coach Mr. Ernie Pavan for leading me to the well of freedom. Choosing growth has brought me more joy and peace than I ever thought was possible.

When you choose to grow in the face of change your personal power grows exponentially. Your self-worth is worth more than gold; you become empowered to live the life you truly want to live. I believe in the three-step approach to growth:

  • The first step is admitting you are stuck in resistance.
  • The second step is to ask for help. As intelligent as you may be, it is very difficult to see the roots of your own issues.
  • The third step is to be open to receiving help.

Then all that is left to do is to embark on your personal journey and let it lead you to where you always wanted to be but never thought you could get there. I will leave you with three inspirational quotes that have helped me to stay focused as I continue on my journey. Enjoy your trip and remember that you can always use a tour guide to help you find the best and most magnificent sites to see on your journey. So don’t be afraid to ask for help.

“And the time came when the risk it took to remain tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.” Anais nin

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.” Marianne Williamson

“There is only one person to change, and it’s the one you are always with so it’s also convenient.“  Byron Katie
